Airbnb emergency info card template

Most guests never open this card. The ones who need it need it fast, so it has to be short, obvious, and posted somewhere they'd actually look.

Tips

  1. 1Swap 911 for the correct local emergency number if the property isn't in the US. That single line matters more than anything else on this card.
  2. 2Post it somewhere fixed and findable, the fridge or inside a cabinet door, not buried in a digital welcome book.
  3. 3This one doesn't need updating often. Get the facts right once and it's set for as long as they stay true.

When you need Emergency info card

This is the one document you hope nobody ever reads. Most guests will not. The ones who do are in the worst few minutes of their stay, and the difference between a card on the wall and information buried in an app is measured in how fast someone can act.

The detail that matters most is the property address. A guest calling emergency services from an unfamiliar place frequently cannot say where they are, especially one who arrived after dark or by taxi. Having it written down turns a stressful exchange into a two-second answer. Everything else on the card is secondary to that.

Where it goes

Somewhere fixed, obvious, and never moved: inside a kitchen cupboard door, on the back of the entry door, or beside the fuse box. Not in a folder that could be tidied away, and not only in a digital welcome book, because the scenario where this matters is often the scenario where nobody is calmly navigating a website.

Common mistakes

Leaving off the address

The single most important line, and the one most often missing. Include the unit or entrance detail too, since an ambulance at the wrong door is the same as no ambulance.

Digital only

A welcome page is fine for Wi-Fi. For emergencies, assume the phone is dead, the guest is panicking, or the person who needs it is not the one who booked. Paper works in all three cases.

Wrong local emergency number

It is not 911 everywhere. Check the number for your country, and include the pan-European 112 if you are in Europe, since many guests will not know it.

Listing shutoffs without locations

Naming a water shutoff is useless without saying it is under the sink behind the cleaning supplies. In an emergency nobody has time to search.

Printing this is fine. Coho turns it into a page guests actually open.

Coho’s Guest Welcome Book puts everything a guest needs, this included, on one link or QR code that never changes. No app or account for your guest, ever.
